Cake decorating is a skill that I really enjoy and I get so much pleasure from each finished product that I make. I love to see the immense pleasure that my creations give to their recipient and my goal is to make something which is a worthy centrepiece to your celebration, something guests will be talking about long after the last drink, the last dance, the last bite, not just for the decoration, but for the taste too. I do not use any machines in the process which means that there are always variations in the finished cake, even when the design is the same. So you can guarantee that your cake will be individual, one of a kind.
All of my cakes are baked fresh to order from scratch, I do not use any pre-packed mixes, my recipes have been developed over years of baking and continue to develop all the time. The taste is far superior to what you will find on any supermarket shelves.
I try to bake my rich fruit cakes well in advance (at least 8 weeks where possible) to give them time to mature, all my other cakes are normally baked a few days before they are required, however it is better to order as soon as possible as I can only bake so many cakes each week and as a result I will sometimes get booked up.
It is perfectly acceptable to mix and match different flavours in your cake. This is sometimes useful if fruit cake is not liked by everybody. I am happy to provide multiple flavours of cake in the same design, the only stipulation has to be that, if there is a fruit cake, it must always be under the sponge. Sponge cakes just can't hold the weight of a fruit cake and would collapse. Just the same as how you feel on Christmas evening after a whole day of over-indulging topped off with a huge slab of rich boozy Christmas cake!
My novelty cakes are hand carved from a large Madeira cake, creating the finished shape before being filled with the chosen filling and covered with icing as the design requires. I can cater for any design so it’s always worth asking the question, no matter how wacky!
I make all my own sugar flower arrangements and can cater for any type and colour of flower. For wedding cakes this can be discussed at our first consultation. For all other cakes I can create a standard spray of your choice of flower, unless otherwise requested.
I can also personalise a cake by modelling items made from fondant or marzipan, so please do ask if you require anything specific. Any messages which are to be piped onto the cake or board are done with royal icing by hand.
Please remember that the colours on any of the gallery photo’s might be slightly different to what you get if you request a particular style of cake, I will endeavour to make sure the colours are the same, but they often vary.
When you order your wedding cake with me, I will arrange an initial consultation meeting to discuss your cake requirements and finalise the design. I can provide samples for tasting at this stage if required.
I will also require a 25% deposit to secure the date, and the balance will be payable 2 weeks before the wedding date. Please do call me if you would like to discuss the options and if you have any further questions before ordering.
I do provide a free delivery service within 10 miles of Malvern, there is a small charge if the venue is further afield. I like to deliver my cakes personally and get them set up correctly, especially in the case of a wedding cake where good presentation is vital to the finished effect.
If you do prefer to collect your order, you will need to ensure that you have a flat level surface to transport it on. Ideally the boot of a car with towels surrounding the box to protect it. Never place the cake on the seat of a car or on a lap. There is a risk of it sliding off and I am unable to accept responsibility for cakes once they leave me.
I don’t take payment for orders over the internet at the moment as I prefer to talk through your order with you, so don’t hesitate to give me a call, or pop me an email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
